Adolfo's has been one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans for the greater part of 20 years. They have so many options on their menu that it never gets boring. Despite possible deviations in your choice of entree, Ocean Sauce is always a YES. I would describe the restaurant as Creole Italian which is one of the things NOLA does best. The Cannelloni is always a great start and you legit cannot go wrong with any entree. The restaurant opens at 5:30 and if you'd like to be seated on time I'd suggest getting there before they open as the restaurant has about 10 tables tops. Very quaint, perfect for a date night but also to have a night out with close friends for a good meal. It is located above the Apple Barrel bar so if you're late or don't mind waiting you can sit at the bar and have a drink till your table is ready. Staff is always wonderful and this last time we went they were nice enough to pull tables together for our party which was a little bigger to accommodate.

Adolfo's is located in the bohemian Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans. You'll find jazz clubs, night markets, and interesting people in this part of town, outside the Vieux Carre. Adolfo's is always busy, and as they don't accept reservations, it is difficult to find seating for groups of 4 or more. So aim for arriving just before they open at 5:30. My suggestion: eggplant with crab and capers for starters ($9), Fish Michelle--catch of the day, smothered in shrimp and crawfish ($22), or Veal Piccata ($20). The catch of the day is often grouper or flounder; and, if you are a pasta lover, or prefer chicken or steak, you will find several delicious choices as well. There is a full bar, so you can start with an aperitif, then enjoy a glass of house wine, or share a bottle of Italian or Californian wine.

Food was fantastic. The steak was our favorite then the lamb then the veal. The sauce is the cherry on top that makes everything taste perfect.

If you eat dinner in one place while in New Orleans, make it Adolfo's Creole-Italian Cuisine. One thousand percent it is so worth it. I loved everything about Adolfo's. It used to be a single bedroom apartment that is 100 years old and is above the Apple Barrel bar. It now has 11 tables nestled in amongst the art covered walls. We arrived right before 5:30pm because we really wanted to eat here. Another couple showed up and waited with us for the doors to open. They had already dined here the night before and said that they will eat here 3-4 times during their week long stay. Promptly at 5:30, the nondescript door was opened and we followed our server up the stairs. Being that we were the first ones there, we sat at a great table with a window view of the street happenings below. Our sever was Scotty and he was super. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. We ordered a bottle of wine and a sazerac. We had the mussels as an appetizer which also came with soft rolls for dredging in the sauce. Absolutely delicious. Two of us had the steak with ocean sauce and I opted the for grouper with ocean sauce. We all had the side salad which has their house dressing. My grouper was fantastic. So nice and flaky and wow, that ocean sauce is perfect. The steak lovers felt the same was bout their meal. The infusion of Creole with the Italian cuisine is on point. You can't go wrong. We ended our meal with a slice of chocolate mousse shared with 3 forks. It was a perfect end to the dinner. The restaurant quickly filled in as we were dining and by the time we were leaving about an hour and a half later, all the tables were filled. I would definitely return here in a heartbeat. Maybe even tonight! It is truly an experience and how every dining experience should be...
